Mimer for MAC
Free, open-source clipboard manager for Mac with a fast command palette, type-aware history, quick transforms and history encrypted on your Mac.
Mimer Overview
Mimer is a clipboard manager that lives in the menu bar and remembers everything you copy. Press Shift-Command-V and a command palette opens with your history, newest first; type to search, press Return to paste. Mimer recognizes what each clip is, such as a link, code, a color, a git commit SHA, an issue key or a file path, and shows a matching symbol, with a live swatch for colors. Command-K transforms a clip on the spot with a live preview, for example changing case, Base64 or URL encoding, pretty-printing JSON, turning JSON into TypeScript or decoding a JWT.
Mimer is made by Hasan Jafri and is free and open source under the MIT license, with no subscription and no telemetry. History stays on your Mac, is encrypted at rest with a key kept in your Keychain, and detected API keys and tokens are masked on screen; password managers are ignored. Version 0.5.0 can import your existing history from Maccy. Mimer needs macOS 14 or later and runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs; the build is signed and notarized and updates itself. It is still a 0.x release, and features such as file clips and text recognition in images are planned rather than done. If the Keychain key is lost, for example when moving to a new Mac without it, the stored history cannot be read.
Key Features
Mimer is built for people who copy a lot, especially developers.
- Command palette: Shift-Command-V opens a searchable history, and Command-1 to Command-9 paste top results.
- Type-aware clips: links, code, colors, git SHAs, issue keys and file paths each get their own symbol.
- Transforms: Command-K reshapes a clip with a live preview, from case changes to JSON to TypeScript.
- Scoped search: filter with type:, app:, is:fav or a regular expression.
- Paste-stack: queue several clips and paste them in order.
- Hover preview: see a whole clip, with JSON, diffs, code and links formatted for reading.
- Private: no network requests, history encrypted at rest and secrets masked on screen.
- Extras: favorites, snippets, image clips, pause, per-app exclusions and Maccy import.
What’s New in Version 0.5.0
Mimer 0.5.0 brings your history across from Maccy and fixes two bugs.
- Import history from Maccy, keeping original times, source apps and pinned items as favorites
- Return no longer pastes the wrong clip when the history changes while the palette is open
- A transformed copy of a secret is now still masked as a secret
